OVERVIEW
The GCC Chapters promote and nurture the cancer research, education and training programs of GCC. The Chapters abide by the overarching principles of philanthropy, excellence and collaboration.
Institutional Members of the Chapters are recognized cancer centers and educational institutions in good standing and with professional accreditation.
Each Chapter is governed by designated faculty that form the Board of Trustees, Executive Steering Committee or the Youth Science Committee. The Executive Steering Committee and the Youth Science Committee in each Chapter make recommendations to the Board of Trustees for final approval.
MEMBERSHIP LEVELS
PRIMARY CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP
• Cancer centers and educational institutions in good standing* with professional accreditation
*Good standing implies compliance with explicit obligations while not being subject to any sanctions, suspension or disciplinary censure.
AFFILIATE CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP
• Meet the criteria for primary membership, but opt out or are not considered for participation as Primary members
• Academic institutions that do not have a cancer hospital or critical mass in cancer research can join as affiliate members and become full members when their faculty develop sustained collaborations with cancer research institutions and hospitals.
APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
The membership application and approval process will be open throughout the year to prospective cancer centers and educational institutions that are duly accredited, in good standing, and actively involved in cancer research, education and treatment.
The decision to accept new cancer centers and education institutions into membership is made by the Board of Trustees in consultation with the executive steering committee and youth science committee of that Chapter, as well as with the GCC Parent group of the founding institutions.
